Wasit Governorate is a governorate located in central Iraq named after the city of Wasit, which was built by Al-Hajjaj bin Yusuf Al-Thaqafi in the year 78 AH and completed in the year 86 AH. to be a new headquarters for his soldiers. The current capital of Wasit is the city of Al-Kut, which is characterized by the fact that it is shaped like a peninsula surrounded by water on the east, west and south sides.
